About This Place

El Morelense South Jordan is a standout gem in Utah’s vibrant Mexican dining scene, specializing in authentic Mexican and taco-centric fare that transports your taste buds straight to the heart of Mexico. Nestled at 1557 W 11400 S Suite B-C in South Jordan, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone craving bold, flavorful dishes meticulously crafted with traditional recipes and fresh ingredients.

The shining star of El Morelense’s menu is undoubtedly their Al Pastor tacos. From the very first bite, you’ll savor tender, juicy pork expertly marinated with a perfect blend of spices and a subtle sweetness from the pineapple, which adds a delightful tropical contrast. The meat’s irresistible caramelized edges and deep smoky flavor make it some of the best Al Pastor you’ll find outside Mexico City, as echoed by Jeffrey Western, who praises its authenticity and portion size. Alongside, the Carne Asada tacos offer a robust, charred steak flavor that fans of grilled meats will love.

Beyond tacos, the menu is a treasure trove of Mexican comfort food. The Carne Asada Fries and Al Pastor Fries elevate casual dining with perfectly seasoned fries smothered in tender meat and melted cheese, delivering that crave-worthy combination of textures and flavors. The Al Pastor Quesadilla offers a melty, delightful twist with rich cheese melting perfectly around the savory pork. For those seeking variety, the Torta Cubana or hearty Carne Asada Burrito provide satisfying, flavor-packed meals. And don’t miss the unique Torta De Milanesa Con Queso Y Jamón, a richly layered sandwich that’s hearty and comforting.

Completing the experience is their approachable salsa bar, featuring an array of vibrant, handcrafted salsas. Many diners, including Mireya Tovar, highlight the green sauces’ balanced spice and freshness, making every bite customizable and exciting. For dessert, the Choco Flan, Tres Leches, and classic Flan are indulgent finales that melt in your mouth, offering just the right sweetness to round off your meal.

The atmosphere at El Morelense is warm and welcoming, with attentive service that makes you feel like family from the moment you walk in. Guests often note the speedy, friendly service — especially the helpful, enthusiastic recommendations from staff like Chuy, who ensure your dining experience is tailored to your tastes.

All in all, El Morelense South Jordan is a vibrant, authentic Mexican restaurant where every dish bursts with flavor and tradition. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this spot is a culinary destination for taco lovers and Mexican food aficionados alike. While prices might be a bit higher than some taco joints, the exquisite quality and authentic taste more than justify the value, promising a memorable dining experience that will bring you back time and again.

We’ve tried so many taco spots in Utah and honestly this pastor is some of the best we’ve ever had. juicy, flavorful, no fatty pieces. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ cheese fries were also yummy and seasoned well

Decided to try a new place and we couldn’t have been happier with the results. The service from Chuy was top tier, and we were given great recommendations on what to get. Food came out fast and hot, and was delicious. We will definitely be coming back!

We ordered the Al pastor and carne asada tacos. We’re from Texas and these tacos lived up to our standard. The pastor was very tender and fell apart. It was seasoned well. I love that it comes with pineapple too. The salsas were great. My only con is that these tacos are pricier than I’m used to. They’re $3.35 each so it adds up

Tried the Al Pastor Fries and Quesadilla de lengua. The pastor was really good. I liked how tender it was. The lengua was super good too. The salsa bar was solid. Both green sauces were good and had a good spice to them!

We heard El Morelense has the best al pastor in the city. The tip wasn't wrong. We checked out this casual dining restaurant for dinner on a Friday night. They were busy, but they had plenty of seating and the food came quickly. Their menu is expansive.Tacos, burritos, tortas, al hambres, nachos and much more! We ordered the al hambre and burrito. I picked the al pastor for my al hambre and was beyond happy and satisifed. The al pastor had a wonderful flavor about it. The big chunks of pineapple only enhanced the flavor. The burrito was good as well. Massive enough to be shared with a nice mixture of flavors. If you need more flavor, they have an expansive salsa bar with loads of tasty options. They also have some pickled vegetables as well. The dining area is very casual. You bus your table and they call your name when your order is ready. The staff is friendly and knowledgable with the menu. The eating area is very clean and open. Pricing is on par for this type of a restaurant. You can expect to spend $10-$20 per person which is worth it. We'll definitely be back to El Morelense for the al pastor.
